FALLS CITY, Michigan (AOL) -- Rebels rookie thirdbaseman Russell Branyan accomplished
two rare feats in a series at Falls City. In Game 2 of the series, he committed four
errors, possibly an ABL record. When asked about his fielding after the game,
Branyan replied, "I think the scorer up there is smokin' something. Those
were hard hit balls." Branyan's second error of the game came with two outs and
nobody on in the 3rd. It opened the door for 5 unearned Returnable runs.
Also on the dubious note, Branyan was hit by pitches 6 times in the series, including 3
times in Game 3. A total of 8 Rebels were hit, spurring several small skirmishes on
the field (and in Cincinnati). Branyan had no comment on becoming a target. He
has been hit 7 times already this year. The ABL record is 11 by Chris Hoiles in
1994.
