VENOM, Arizona - The Grizzlies were looking for redemption to the worst quarter
in team history. Vermont was 6-6 and 2 games behind the front running Devils at the
end of the first quarter. By the season's midpoint and a 2-10 run, the
Grizzlies found themselves in last place. "We needed to get this thing turned
around," said manager Jim Schultheiss. Vermont did just that by sweeping Venom to open the second half of the season. Kevin Brown gave up 2 hits to out duel Cobra ace, Jeff D'Amico for a 4-1 win in Game 1. Vermont clubbed Venom 9-3 in Game 2. Richie Sexson's 2-out bases loaded double in the 9th inning of Game 3, broke a 3-3 tie. Vermont held on to win 6-4. -- submitted by Webmaster, 07/10/01
