Dateline: Key West Florida:

The Key West Jayhawks today made an inner-divisional trade with it's arch-rival, Durham Devils.....The deal brings thirdbaseman Tony Batista and a 4th round draft pick of the 2004 draft (From Key West), to the Jayhawks.

In return, the Devil's get outfielder Darrin Lewis and Key West's 2nd round pick of the the 2004 draft.

Jayhawk skipper, Craig Hon, Believes that the move will improve his ballclub, as they try to make a run at catching the Devils, and advancing to the post-season for the first time in franchise history.

"It gives us a better option at third base.  Let's face it, Todd Zeile is not getting any younger.....or faster for that matter!  And Batista gives us better defense and slightly more power the the aging Zeile."

Zeile appeared not to be too happy with the move.  "It kind of makes me feel like I am not wanted around here anymore.  I've given my best years to this team, and I feel like I can still contribute during this stretch run."

Hon said " Yeah, he has given us his best years.....but his best years are behind him, and it is time to go with someone younger, faster, stonger, and can play better defense.  But he will be a key player coming off the bench for us down the stretch."

Says Batista "I am berry, berry happy with the de move.....eet will geet me closer to home.....plus no body dat I like on de Durm team can speaky spaneesh.....and de ones dat can....I no like.('Speshilly dat Pedro guy).  So, I ope I can go to Floreeda and elp dem beat de Deveels."
