501: FIELDING RATINGS 501.1 The fielding column to be used for board numbers 12, 13, 14, 23 and 35 to 42 inclusive is determined by the total number of fielding points for the entire lineup of the defensive team (nine players). If these numbers total forty-one (41) or more, use fielding one (1) column. If these numbers total thirty-six (36) to forty (40) inclusive, use fielding two (2) column. If these numbers total less than thirty-six (36), use fielding three (3) column. 501.2 For board numbers 21, 22, 24, 25, 33 and 34, determine proper fielding column as follows: of the four (4) infielders, the pitcher and catcher (six players only) total less than thirty (30), use fielding three (3) column; thirty (30) to thirty-four (34) inclusive, using fielding two (2) column; thirty-five (35) or more, use fielding one (1) column. 501.3 For board numbers 15 to 20 inclusive, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31 and 32 determine the proper fielding as follows:
501.4 Recount the fielding points and look for possible changes in team fielding rating after each substitution in the lineup. 501.5 Should it be necessary, because of injury or ejection, to assign a player to a position not rated on his card, give the following ratings: catcher-3, firstbaseman-0, secondbaseman-3, thirdbaseman-1, shortstop-4, outfielder-0, and pitcher-0. These ratings are all one point less than the minimum grade for a rated player. Players may only play positions in which they have not been rated for if an injury or ejection forces a rated player from the game and there are not any rated substitutions available on the bench. 501.6 The Bump Rule Fielders may not change position during a game unless his currently held position is effected by a new player entering the game. 501.7 If a dice roll is made and the same batter remains at bat, as on attempted steal, etc., the pitch if not specified on the board, should be considered a ball on even numbers and a strike on odd numbers. 501.8 Whenever third base is occupied by a runner, the defensive team must state the position of his infield on each batter, "Deep" or "In." If the defensive team manager should fail to call the position of his infield, the play is scored as "Deep." 502: INTENTIONAL WALKS 502.1 The defensive manager may intentionally walk any batter by stating "Walk"prior to or simultaneously with the dice roll. The dice roll, whatever it may be, is then ignored and the batter is given a base on balls. Intentional walks may not be called when a Hit & Run or the Squeeze Play has already been called. 503: SCORE KEEPING 503.1 Each manager is required to maintain scoresheets for all games played. Statistics for all players must be submitted to the League Statistician in the ABL approved format within two (2) weeks of completion of games # 24, 36 and 48. 503.2 When the third out of an inning on a tag play (at third, second or first) while a run scores, the run is always assumed to have crossed the plate before the tag occurred at the other base. The run, therefore, does count. 503.3 For board numbers 30 and 32 with bases empty and two (2) outs, record as a put out centerfield. |
